Finger Paint Recipes

There’s no need to spend a ton of money on finger paints. Here are some of my favorite finger paint recipes you can make at home - with ingredients you already have!

Keep your preschoolers clean by covering them up with smocks before painting. I use old, adult-sized shirts from the second-hand store and put them on the kids backwards, so the buttons are in the back.

Many preschooler are hesitant to finger paint. I can understand why - we work so hard to teach our children to keep their hands clean, now all of a sudden we’re telling them to make them dirty!

If your child is reluctant to finger paint, gently enourage her to just feel the paint. Maybe she’ll just make a few marks on the paper with one finger to start, and that’s OK. There are no rules when it comes to finger painting!
